Silver Dogon Ring
In tribal cultures metal adornment was a sure way to show that you were in the money. It didn't blow away or get eaten by desert critters, so its permanence and rarity would become symbolic of wealth. This ring was made by a member of the Dogon people of Mali. Today it might not be the richest of jewels, but it shows its value in form and simplicity.
