Red Naga Beaded Necklace
$ 325
This is a ceremonial necklace from Nagaland. It has deep rich red glass beads with white beaded accents at the ends. The Naga people of northeastern India have a rich and well-preserved culture in which adornment plays a key role. The strict control of ornament in Naga culture created a recognizable cultural hierarchy.
The traditional closure is woven fiber (jute?). This is a handsome example with beaded decoration and a coin button from 1939.
