Naga Beaded Necklace
This is a ceremonial necklace from Nagaland. The Naga people of northeastern India have a rich and well-preserved culture in which adornment plays a key role. The strict control of ornament in Naga culture created a recognizable cultural hierarchy. This necklace has 34 strands of red glass beads patterned with orange, turquoise and dark blue. The traditional closure is woven fiber (jute?). This is a particularly beautiful example with beaded decoration and a coin button.
Material: Glass, fiber metal
