Ethiopian Phallic Fringe Necklace

This splendid necklace marries African beads, cast in silver, and Japanese knot work bound in silk. The combination is fabulous. The beads represent phalluses and are intended to bring fertility. The knots are made in the round by a contemporary master, finished with and antique silver button toggle.
